Waka on Avon, Ōtautahi Christchurch
Traveling to Aotearoa New Zealand’s South Island from North America is now even more accessible with United Airlines adding a direct San Francisco (SFO) to Christchurch (CHC) route.
The route will commence on December 01st 2023 and will operate three times per week. This complements United’s current San Francisco to Auckland route which operates daily. Covering 6,912 mi / 11,125 km, United will use the 243-seat 787-8. These have 28 Polaris seats, 21 in Premium Plus, 36 in Economy Plus, and 158 in regular Economy.
Your clients will be amazed at the diverse landscapes, the range of activities and the spirit of manaakitanga (a deep expression of hospitality). Te Waipounamu (the South Island) is home to an abundance of must-do, quintessentially Kiwi activities in some of the country’s most beautiful locations.
Ōtautahi Christchurch is the gateway to the Canterbury region and has a great balance of big-city wonders, cultural experiences and a diverse art scene. Are your clients wondering where to go from here? North of Christchurch is the seaside town of Kaikoura, the go-to spot for whale and other marine life watching. Or south lies Mackenzie District, known for impressive stargazing experiences and the picturesque Lake Tekapo. Tāhuna Queenstown is just an hour flight away from Christchurch. This lake-side town offers vibrant nightlife, world-class dining, and is the perfect base for winter mountain activities or some vineyard hopping. From here, the unparallelled Piopiotahi Milford Sound is a short scenic drive (or heli) away. Book an overnight cruise through the Sounds to experience truly magical sights. Your clients will not be disappointed.
