Central Otago: a region with film-star good looks

Take a bow Central Otago – location star of the award-winning ‘The Power of the Dog’.

With Kiwi filmmaker Jane Campion collecting international awards for her new film, The Power of the Dog, we think it’s high time to turn the spotlight on Central Otago – a small New Zealand region with exceptional pulling power that takes a starring role in this movie.

Think world-class pinot noir and vineyard experiences, stunning cycling trails and walks, goldmining history, fine dining and boutique accommodations, surrounded by epic landscapes and a sparsely populated countryside of small towns (Cromwell, Alexandra, Clyde, Naseby, Ranfurly) and vast high-country farms – Central Otago, just north of Queenstown, has everything to give your sophisticated clients a memorable holiday.

Driving the Central Otago Touring Route(opens in new window) is a great way to experience the full backdrop featured in the movie as it includes vistas from the Ida Valley, Oturehua / Maniototo Plains, St Bathans and Naseby.  The region also has a series of beautiful cycling trails including the famous Otago Central Rail Trail and the newly opened Lake Dunstan Trail(opens in new window).

Join us on a virtual tour of Central Otago(opens in new window), a world of difference! We'll explore the region's amazing cycle trails, world class pinot noir and the gold mining history that your clients can experience.
