Awaroa Lodge refurbish complete

Awaroa Lodge in Abel Tasman National Park has refurbished their standard and standard plus rooms over Winter. The lodge reopened on 1 September for the season.

New jet boat and heli combo

Buller Canyon Jet is connecting with both Reid Helicopters and Murchison Heli Tours to deliver a heli jet combo package. This will lift people from Nelson or Murchison straight into the Murchison mountains for a 20-minute flight on their way to the jet boat departure point.

New overnight yacht stay in Abel Tasman 

Abel Tasman Sailing Adventures have a new product for the season. Stay on a 46-foot luxury catamaran, Te Harinui, for an overnight bed & breakfast boat stay experience in Anchorage Bay.


Sudima Hotel announces new 4.5-star hotel

Sudima Hotels has received the go-ahead to build a new purpose built 4.5-star hotel in Kaikoura. The hotel will offer 118 rooms and is scheduled to open during the summer of 2019/20.


Lyttleton Port Company begins construction of cruise berth. 

Cruise ships are one step closer to returning to Lyttleton Harbour, as construction begins on Lyttleton Port Company’s cruise berth.

Rose gardens get world recognition

Rose gardens at Christchurch’s Botanic Gardens have scooped the supreme award at an international rose convention in Denmark.


iFLY now open 

iFLY is New Zealand’s first and only indoor skydiving and Queenstown’s most exciting new adrenaline adventure.

New morning flight 

Air New Zealand’s first flight of the day from Queenstown to Auckland will lave Queenstown at 6:40am from 28 October. This will allow a seamless connection for customers travelling to Narita, Tokyo from Auckland or planning a full day of activities in Auckland. 

Sofitel Queenstown redesign completed

Sofitel Queenstown Hotela & Spa has completed a redesign of its lobby and reception area. The re-design includes a colour palette that reflects Lake Wakatipu and Queenstown’s gold mining heritage with grand designs such as mirror mosaic walls surrounding the staircase.

Mi-pad Queenstown has opened

The 57-room hotel utilises the latest room technology, requiring guests to download an app to access their room, meaning there’s no need for a traditional check-in or out process. The app also acts as a personal concierge.

New Wine Hopper experience

Queenstown Wine Trail has launched a new Wine Hopper hop-on hop-off express transport service from Queenstown to Gibbston. Wine Hopper bus departs Queenstown at 10am, 12pm, and 2pm and will drive and will drive six circuits around the Gibbston wineries daily.


The Cloudy Bay Shed opens in Central Otago 

Cloudy Bay has opened a new Cellar Door – The Cloudy Bay Shed – in Central Otago. Located at their vineyard in Northburn, The Shed will be open to the public 11am – 5pm Tuesday through Saturday, expanding to seven days a week from the summer month onwards.


Big changes for the Milford Haven

The Milford Haven will be going on her annual survey from 10th September and will undergo a full refurbishment. In the meantime, the Go Orange Milford Sound cruise will operator on the Real Journeys vessel, the Sinbad.
