Unique and authentic experiences are plentiful in Aotearoa New Zealand.
To assist you with planning your Explore New Zealand self-famil, we’ve put together a collection of suggested itineraries. We recommend that you spend at least two nights in each of the regions you visit to allow yourself enough time to wander, explore and connect with the whenua (land).
Start by making a list of your must-see places and experiences. Perhaps you’ve always wanted to visit Milford Sound? Spend two nights in Fiordland to immerse yourself in the dramatic beauty of the mountains, and then maximise your time by visiting adjourning regions, such as Queenstown or Central Otago.
Or maybe geothermal is at the top of your list? Spend a night or two in Auckland before heading to Rotorua to experience geothermal treasures and culture for a few days, then visit Waikato for adventure and urban exploration.
If you’re looking for inspiration on how to craft the perfect itinerary, then take a look at our suggested itineraries. All experiences listed can be booked through the Explore New Zealand Discount Programme.
The itineraries are designed to be combined so that you can create a trip that suits your interests and works within the timeframe you have available in Aotearoa New Zealand.
