Great Journeys TranzAlpine(opens in new window) is one of the world's great train journeys, travelling from coast to coast on Aotearoa New Zealand's South Island taking in the vast Canterbury Plains, spectacular Southern Alps and wild West Coast.

September 2022 saw Great Journeys(opens in new window) introduce their new short break-packages and guided tours(opens in new window) across their three scenic train journeys and they are now looking to further elevate their offerings with Scenic Plus.

Starting initially on the TranzAlpine route, the Scenic Plus(opens in new window) presents clients with a menu of delicious regionally inspired meals, prepared in the brand-new kitchen car, matched with local wines and beers, whilst they journey through the foothills of the Southern Alps and into the rugged West Coast.

There is a dedicated passenger carriage and viewing carriage; and the entire journey will be hosted by TranzAlpine’s knowledgeable staff sharing local stories and insights.  Scenic Plus provides clients with a more boutique and personalised experience. Scenic Plus includes:

• A personalised and dedicated host service.
• Regionally inspired cuisine paired with local wine and beer.
• Private outdoor viewing carriage exclusively for Scenic Plus guests.
