Border Update: Traveller Declaration requirement removed for arrivals into New Zealand

There is no Traveller Declaration documentation, COVID-19 vaccination or testing requirement for international travellers arriving at the New Zealand border.

As of midnight Thursday 20th October 2022 (NZT), those travelling to New Zealand from overseas by air will no longer need to complete a New Zealand Traveller Declaration.

If travellers have already completed Traveller Declaration documentation for travel from midnight Thursday 20 October 2022, they will not be required to present their Traveller Pass on arrival in New Zealand.

A reminder that travellers no longer need to test for COVID-19 on arrival or prove their COVID-19 vaccination status to enter the country.

Masks are still not required anywhere, except when visiting certain healthcare facilities (hospitals, GPs, pharmacies etc). Please note, outside of these healthcare facilities, some venues on a case-by-case basis may request people wear a mask.

Launched in March this year, the New Zealand Traveller Declaration system has been an important tool in supporting the safe re-opening of our borders and will be developed for use again in the future, eventually replacing the paper arrival card.
