Border Update: Vaccination requirements removed for all arrivals into New Zealand

Highway overlooking Mount Cook, Canterbury

There is no COVID-19 vaccination or testing requirement for international travellers arriving at the New Zealand border.

The New Zealand Government's vaccination requirements for all international travellers (including air crew) arriving at the border ended at midnight (NZT) on 12 September.

Pre-departure, all travellers are required to complete a New Zealand Traveller Declaration (NZTD) and obtain a Traveller Pass before entering New Zealand. The NZTD is required for all arrivals including children and infants. It can be completed online.

People arriving in New Zealand from overseas will receive free rapid antigen tests (RAT) at the airport and will be encouraged to test on day 0/1 and 5/6. There is a 7-day isolation period (counted from first symptoms) for anyone who tests positive.

Masks will not be required anywhere, except when visiting certain healthcare facilities (hospitals, GPs, pharmacies etc). Some other places may ask people to wear a mask.
