Airport buses offer a ‘business class’ choice

Two new InterCity GOLD buses are now
operating between Hamilton and Auckland Airport, offering the choice of standard seats or premium GOLD seats – large soft leather recliners with individual charge ports and power outlets. Services operate daily, except on Christmas Day.

DoubleTree is set for Wellington

The Hilton is opening its first property in Wellington this year under the DoubleTree by Hilton brand. The seven-story hotel, expected to open late 2017, will be located in the T&G Building on Lambton Quay.

TranzAlpine update

The TranzAlpine rail service is expected to resume services between Christchurch and Greymouth ahead of schedule on 22 March.
The line was badly damaged when a fire swept through 300 ha between Cass and Springfield, damaging several bridges along the route.


Dunedin’s Cadbury chocolate factory to close

At this point it is unclear whether the Cadbury World factory tour will remain in operation, Mondelez International (the company that owns it) has said it would “invest to redevelop the tourist side of the popular Cadbury World operation if the local community wanted it to”.

Four new suites at Mahu Whenua
New Zealand’s newest luxury lodge, Mahu Whenua Ridgeline Homestead and Eco Sanctuary, a 20-minute drive from Wanaka, has introduced four new suites to cater for demand. Each suite sleeps up to two people and features a king or king-split bed as well as an ensuite with bath. Prices start at $1850 per suite per night for up to two guests, including all meals, an in-house chef, concierge and staff.


Museum has strong start

Classic Motorcycle Mecca in Invercargill has welcomed over 10,000 visitors through its doors since opening late November 2016. A new Transport World ‘Turbo Pass’ has been created to encourage guests to visit both attractions: the Classic Motocycle Mecca and Bill Richardson Transport World.
