May 2016: New Zealand Farm Stays
A New Zealand farm stay is a unique Kiwi experience and a great way to meet friendly locals!
Farm stay accommodation is similar to bed and breakfasts but guests have the opportunity to learn about life on a New Zealand farm and the chance to help with daily activities, such as feeding the calves or rounding up the sheep.
Most farms are located within a few hour's drive of major towns and cities. So if your clients want a relaxing rural escape but still have access to the amenities of town then a farm stay is a great option.
No matter what time of year your clients visit there is always something exciting to see on a farm. Springtime (September onwards) sees the arrival of thousands of playful fluffy lambs. July to October (winter/spring) is calving season in New Zealand and visitors will get the opportunity to cuddle and hand feed adorable young calves. Sheep shearing often takes place year round so the chance of a close up demonstration is certainly possible.
