With the release of The Hobbit trilogy you may be wishing to put together product or packages related to this.

Before doing so please be aware of the following guidelines:
  • All movie assets associated with The Hobbit trilogy are owned by Warner Bros. Pictures. This includes rights to the names of The Hobbit trilogy, character and location names from The Hobbit trilogy, The Hobbit movie logo, the movies themselves, screen shots and images from the movies.
  • Any company wishing to use these movie assets must have a contract with Warner Bros. Pictures that provides express permission to do so.
  • One option you might consider is simply to promote your New Zealand packages and products as usual without referring to the movie release, taking advantage of the increased awareness likely to be generated about New Zealand following the movie release.
  • Trade partners are not permitted to run any promotion or incentive to consumers or travel trade offering The Hobbit movie tickets or special screenings without the express approval of Warner Bros. Pictures.
  • When advertising or promoting your products or services you should not make any reference to ‘The Hobbit trilogy’, or any other reference that might be associated with the movie release, without first obtaining advice from an intellectual property lawyer. You may be advised that your advertising or promotion cannot lawfully be undertaken without a contract with Warner Bros. Pictures.
  • Companies cannot talk about or promote ‘Hobbit tours’ without having a contract with Warner Bros. Pictures. E.g: 'enjoy a Nomad Safaris’ The Hobbit Film Location Tour' is not permitted.
  • Air New Zealand is Warner Bros. Pictures’ exclusive worldwide airline partner for The Hobbit trilogy. They are the only airline that can be included in The Hobbit specific packages.
