Season 2 of the television series starring Taika Waititi filmed in iconic locations around New Zealand
Coming to the small screen very soon, Season 2 of HBO Max series ‘Our Flag Means Death’ featuring celebrated New Zealand actor and director Taika Waititi, includes scenes filmed and depicted in iconic locations around Aotearoa New Zealand.
Tune in to the latest season of the swashbuckling romantic pirate comedy from 5 October 2023 on HBO Max and partners to spot the awe-inspiring natural beauty of recognisable landmarks such as Te Henga Bethells Beach and Piha Beach in western Auckland as well as the stunning Bay of Islands in Taitokerau Northland.
Amongst his busy filming schedule, Taika took time to share his aroha (love) for his home country in a short film produced by Tourism New Zealand. Showcasing the thrilling sights and experiences manuhiri (visitors) can find in Aotearoa New Zealand, the playful film ‘No Place Like It On Earth’ sees Taika and his real-life ‘Our Flag Means Death’ stunt double, Jade Daniels, try whitewater rafting in Rotorua, taking a scenic flight over Mount Tarawera, go dolphin watching in Kaikōura and enjoy wine tasting in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland.
The Tourism New Zealand production of ‘No Place Like It On Earth’ was filmed in December 2022, prior to the SAG-AFTRA strike that is currently in place.
