If your clients are coming to New Zealand to follow the Lion’s tour, perhaps there is an opportunity to upsell. Here are some resources and information that may help you.
Undiscovered New Zealand
Explore the roads less travelled. Send your clients to Tourism New Zealand’s staff members’ favourite hidden gems throughout the country.
Go to our Undiscovered New Zealand
section to get some ideas.
Travelling around New Zealand in a motorhome is a fun and exciting way to experience the country, but after multiple nights on the road the desire for creature comforts is strong. You may like to recommend your clients indulge in a hotel or bed and breakfast for a couple of nights a week. Helping them plan their itinerary and recommending boutique properties across the country is a great way to upsell.

If your clients are location bound due to accommodation allocations, you could recommend they visit other (close) regions on a day trip. Here are some ideas for you to consider:
Take a 2 hour ferry ride to The Coromandel for the day or stay overnight. Guided tours and packages are available too.
Head north to the Matakana wine region, home to over 30 boutique vineyards, olive groves and restaurants. Guided tours from Auckland are available for those not wanting to drive.
Get your clients out on the harbour for an overnight adventure with Hauraki Blue Cruises
Treat your clients to a helicopter or float plane to Waiheke Island for wine tasting, zip lining, cycling and island exploring
Hobbiton Movie SetTM is located just a two hour drive from Auckland. Your clients could drive here independently or take a guided tour from the CBD.
Take the train or drive through to the Wairarapa, a quiet getaway destination known for great Pinot Noir. Stay for the day or overnight in a boutique town.
Send your clients an hour ‘up the coast’ to Kapiti Island, a predator free sanctuary for native species of New Zealand. Visit for the day or stay overnight and watch the forest come to life with Kapiti Island Nature Tours.
For a real treat, send your clients by helicopter to Wharekauhau Lodge for a gourmet lunch
Marlborough is a 3.5 hour ferry ride away or a short 25 minute flight. Send your clients over one way and back the other to experience this boutique region.
