More hotel beds for Christchurch
Refurbishments and new development to add more rooms to the Christchurch accommodation inventory.
The Press reports that the owners of Sudima Hotel Christchurch have decided to demolish and rebuild the hotel’s most visible wing, adding 39 rooms in the process. The $25 million investment will see the Memorial Avenue property upsize to 247 rooms. Work is well under way following consent delays.
In town, The Hotel Montreal development will add 25 rooms to the Christchurch accommodation inventory, and another 280 rooms will come on stream next January when the former Hotel So/All Seasons in Cashel Street reopens after strengthening and repairs. Bought by Auckland-based Russell Group, The Press says it would likely sport a “name” hotel brand.
