New clifftop retreat for Wellington

Pipinui Point, New Zealand’s newest exclusive coastal retreat, has opened in Wellington.

Perched up high above the Tasman Sea and surrounded by 1600 acres of coastal farmland, this private two-bedroom retreat offers floor-to-ceiling windows, a wood burner and a clifftop outdoor bath.

From the private deck, guests can enjoy uninterrupted views of the rugged coastline from Kaikōura to Mount Taranaki. 

Designed to “showcase the essence of pure New Zealand”, Pipinui Point is located a 25-minute drive from Wellington City, or just six minutes by helicopter.

Founder Tom Eastwick is looking forward to sharing the land his family has called home for nearly 100 years.

Guests can opt for a gourmet dining experience that showcases local and foraged ingredients created by Head Chef Warren Maddox. Dishes on the Pipinui Point menu include Warren’s 48-hour Wakanui beef short rib with hazelnut crumb, port jus and carrot textures.

The team are focussed on protecting the surrounding land for generations to come, with measures such as low-impact building practices and a commitment to regenerating 120 hectares of native bush surrounding the property.

A variety of onsite activities are available, including a private Jaguar race track experience, Landrover Extreme 4WD, clay bird shooting, coastal safari farm tours and more.

How to get there:

The nearest airport is Wellington International Airport. Take a short 25-minute car trip from Wellington City or opt for a six minute helicopter flight over the hills and coastline of Wellington to the onsite helipad.
